I sent this out to friends and relatives going to vacation in hawaii.  I’ll keep this running list here.

Places to eat: 

Breakfast

• Kokohead Cafe!!!!
• Mac 24/7 – huge pancakes was on man vs food
• Cinnamon’s (breakfast) – there’s one at the Ilikai now
• Hukilau café
• Boots & Kimo’s (famous for their mac nut pancakes)
• Elena’s filipino food (famous for a fried rice omelet)
• My Cafe – in Kapolei.  Try the pancake trio.
• Diamond Head Cove Health Bar
• Liliha Cafe

Hot plates:

• Helena’s – must go, parking sucks because it’s in the hood but you must go
• Nico’s at pier 38
• Agu ramen (if you like ramen)
• Lucky Belly
• Off da wall
• Jawaiian Irie Jerk

Sushi/Poke:

• Mitch’s Fish House
• tanioka’s fish market – if you like sashimi, poke, etc..
• Kuru kuru sushi – a better alternative to Genki sushi I think.  Fatty poke bowls. (In Pearl City and Kahala mall)
• Doraku sushi
• Sushi ii

Misc:

Hiking:

• diamond head, easy
• koko head, intermediate but the view is awesome
• Lanikai pill box hike, the first hill is probably the toughest, but again the view is awesome
• Makapu’u light house, I’ve seen a few whales while hiking here – if you see them likely on the east shore

Touristy stuff:

• Pearl harbor, they’ve remodeled the exhibits a lot before you get on the arizona.  Pretty cool.  I want to go back.
• Bishop museum
• Iolani Palace
• Kuoloa Ranch
  • ATVing
  • Some van tours to check out TV/film spots (lost, jurassic park, hawaii-five-0)
• Polynesian cultural center – they have a night show and luau, good ice cream in a pineapple
• Atlantis tours – dinner cruise, submarine tour for kids
• Waikiki Zoo
• Waikiki Aquarium
• Sea life park

Beaches:

• ko’olina (You’ll be here)
• Lanikai and Kailua beach are favorites
• haunama bay

North Shore

• Shrimp trucks – giovanni’s or macky’s
• Ted’s bakery (pies)
• Matsumuto’s shaved ice
• Sunset beach
• Waimea beach – huge waves, a huge rock that everyone jumps off of
• Laniakea beach
